Fahrenheit 451 – Dunia tanpa buku

Menonton Fahrenheit 451 meningatkan akan… lingkungan gue sendiri. Bayangkan, jika kita tinggal di dunia dimana pemerintah melarang keras adanya buku (dalam pengembangannya mungkin juga film-film independen atau arthouse, hehe). Setiap orang hanya diizinkan memperoleh informasi dan pengetahuan dari TV yang disiarkan oleh pemerintah saja. Otomatis semua manusia akan seperti… sekarang ini. Semua manusia akan berpikir sama. Hanya mengikuti apa yang didikte oleh budaya populer, berpikiran sempit, dll. That’s why there’s so much otoku, Japanese wannabe, and teenager having haircut like Giring these days.

Kalau di film ini, Guy Montag merupakan petugas pelacak dan pembakar buku handal, ia sebenernya tidak pernah tau tujuan sebenarnya dari tugasnya itu. Namun suatu hari, seorang wanita yang berperilaku unik membuat Guy mempertanyakan pekerjaannya itu.

Guy secara diam-diam mulai mambaca buku (yang dimuai dengan David Coperfield karya Charles Dickens) dan mulai merasakan ada kehidupan seorang individual dalam dirinya.

François Truffaut’s Antoine Doinel

My first encounter with Truffaut’s work, I found this Antoine Doinel series as my favourite films. I like how Truffaut was capable to make a romantic adventure without being exaggerating and sentimental. And also the often bizzare twist and comedy.

I don’t undertand why critics claimed Les Quatre Cent Coups to be the best of the series. For now, I personally think that the later sequels was better, especially for Domicile Conjugal.

Things I like about Antoine Doinel series:
1. Bizzare changes of Antoine’s job: Record presser – Army – Hotel clerk – Private detective – Television repairer – Flower painter – Remote control player,
2. He married his childhood friend,
3. At one point, Antoine Doinel talks about how he hates his mistress to his wife,
4. The mysterious character in the neighborhood that spread the silence,
5. Lots of quality talk about nothing, this one I can see it on Tarantino’s work.

Ennio Morricone – Note di Pace

Pas liburan browsing2, ketemu album baru dari Ennio Morricone. I’m a big fans. Menurut gue Ennio punya kekuatan dari musiknya yang memorable, selalu nempel di kepala.

Note di Pace ini album konsernya yang berisi lagu-lagu legendarisnya yang seluruhnya diambil dari score soundtrack yang pernah dia bikin.

Dengan menggunakan aransemen (lebih ke peralihan alat musik) yang baru, lagu-lagu disini terasa lebih elegan dan nendang.

Lagu-lagu melankolis dari Once Upon A Time in the West, Giu la testa, dan terutama Cinema Paradiso sanggup membuat saya terharu setiap kali mendengarnya (ingat sayatan biola solo di akhir lagu cinema paradiso – For elena). Hiks hiks.

Bikin Klip 17 Agustusan

Hehe. Libur tanggal 30 kemaren gue bikin iklan gereja buat acara 17 agustusan, syutingnya di Lapangan Ukrida dari jam 9 pagi sampe 12 siang. Tapi molor, jam 10 baru mulai syuting.

Konsepnya nyuri dari newsreel jadul, such as intronya Citizen Kane. Di depannya disisipin klip yang diambil dari youtube.

Jesus, Du weisst

I’ve watched two of Ulrich Seidl films, and i like them both. So I guess I’m almost his fans. Ulrich made his films in much more different way. He would put a static camera and let the actors interact. Sometimes, it’s like the main characters is the background. Like a photograph, to me.

Jesus, Du weisst, is a documentary-although I doubt it’s a pure documentary-about some people coming alone to Catholic church to share their problems and have intimate conversation with their God, Jesus. It’s quite inspirational, actually. But the artistic value, I think most people won’t get it. They’ll just get bored and watch lame Facing The Giants instead.
